A sci-fi movie set in the not too distant future in which a team of astronauts is on a mission to the sun.  Well, not actually to the sun, but very close to the sun.  Close enough for them to launch the “payload” which is a nuclear device intended to re-ignite the sun and save [...]

It’s a family affair. Directed By Ben Affleck, starring brother Casey.

This movie was a bit of a surprise to me.
I had heard generally positive reviews, as far as I could remember but I didn’t remember the movie having a ton of “buzz.” It reminded me of Mystic River, which was nominated for Best Picture, Director, [...]

What a mouthful. The title, I mean. The movie itself, also a cinematic mouthful at 2 hours and 40 odd minutes.

For me, this is a no brainer. I like movies like Tombstone (even with its questionable acting) and Unforgiven. All the actors in this one are good all the way around (Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, Garrett Dillahunt, [...]

A story set against the backdrop of the 1960s and the music of the Beatles. An almost untenable idea done expertly.

It mostly got over itself [...]

When I was in middle school or high school I remember talking with my dad about the state of musicals. He said they were dead. He claimed there wasn’t much of a point to make more because they always look so tired and remote. I agreed. Audiences had grown accustomed to seeing big hollywood movies and these [...]

Mr. Brooks

This is another that slipped by me.
When I hear Kevin Costner and Demi Moore, my thoughts are: Is it 1992 again? Already?
But…
(I’m waiting for SRP to edit this one)GO:

Well, let me say this.  I saw it with my Mother, and she cried (not a lot, but still).  It was a great movie, and I completely see why it was nominated for an Oscar.
It was deeply tragic and had a fantastic cast. The costumes were fantastic.  I enjoyed it very much.
If you want to [...]
