Alrighty, we’re starting off with an oddly CGI’d/animated intro with lots of our old favorite movie characters just walking around. Fair enough. Drumroll, please and thank you – and – Jon Stewart. Starting with a writer’s strike joke, bold. Followed up with a joke about Javier Bardem’s haircut in No Country for Old Men. That [...]

The Razzies

Lohan ran away with it!
She won joint awards for her portrayals in “I Know Who Killed Me,” which also won best (worst) movie.

And let’s not forget Eddie Murphy! Three acting awards for Norbit. Worst actor for the title character, supporting actress and supporting actor for the chinese man. Sheesh.

It’s a family affair. Directed By Ben Affleck, starring brother Casey.

This movie was a bit of a surprise to me.
I had heard generally positive reviews, as far as I could remember but I didn’t remember the movie having a ton of “buzz.” It reminded me of Mystic River, which was nominated for Best Picture, Director, [...]

Olive Snook, the incomparable Kristin Chenowith from ABC’s whimsical Pushing Daisies will be singing one of the Oscar nominated songs from Enchanted at the 2008 Academy Awards ceremony.

Does anyone want to make any bets on how many writers’ strike jokes will be made?

I don’t always agree with the Academy but I do like to play the guessing game. So, these aren’t who I necessarily want to win but who I think will win.

The Baxter

Not at all what you would expect form the people who brought you “Wet Hot American Summer” (which I did happen to enjoy as well).

What a mouthful. The title, I mean. The movie itself, also a cinematic mouthful at 2 hours and 40 odd minutes.

For me, this is a no brainer. I like movies like Tombstone (even with its questionable acting) and Unforgiven. All the actors in this one are good all the way around (Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, Garrett Dillahunt, [...]

A story set against the backdrop of the 1960s and the music of the Beatles. An almost untenable idea done expertly.

There are a lot of phenomenal things about this movie. Directed by Julie Taymor who brought “The Lion King” to life on Broadway has a wonderful visual style. The leads are all very good, including [...]

The Lookout (2007)

I enjoyed watching this movie but it was not too noteworthy. It felt like a watered-down retread of a few other movies. (Amnesiatic Thriller genre). Joesph Gordon-Levitt is definitely the best part of this movie.
Between this and “Brick,” it’s like he is trying to convince the world that he can really act; that he’s more [...]
